1) About this dictionary

The idea is to create an online Swedish-Vietnamese dictionary which can be helpful for many people. At the moment, the project is understaffing and the contribution to this database goes slowly. Therefor we provide other databases which can be useful for visitors. Further information about those databases can be found at:

2) How do I type vietnamese?

There are some radio-options right below the search-field. You can choose between VNI and VIQR to type Vietnamese. The table below describes how you can type. In the left is some Vietnamese letters and the diacratic/accent marks. The columns in the right decribe how you hit the keyboard to obtain those.

OBS! VNI does not work well in Opera. Choose VIQR instead!

3) My webbrowser doesn't have Unicode-support. What can I do?

You may select output as VIQR. You can find this option below the search-form.

4) Javascript doesn't work on my webbrowser and I don't have other possibilities to type Vietnamese. What should I do?

You may choose VIQR as input for your text. You can find how to type Vietnamese according to this standard below the search-form or in the table above. If you want to learn more about VIQR, please go to the homepage of VIQR

5) I don't have å, ä, ö, ü and ß on my keyboard. How do I type these letters?

You can type å, ä, ö, ü and ß as a*, a", o", u" and ss respectively. The search-engine will recognize these and replace them. The search-engine will do this only when you look up translations from Swedish to Vietnamese or from German to Vietnamese.

6) Can I search in many databases at the same time?

Yes, you can press Ctrl-key and click on the database in the select-option for multiselection. This function was developed for searching translation from Vietnamese to other langauges.

7) What are the functions Viqr2unicode and Unicode2viqr?

Viqr2unicode is a function that you can use to convert text written in VIQR (according to VIQR) to Unicode and Unicode2viqr does the opposite.
